Life is getting weighed down by the hustle and bustle of modern life. Very few people remember when it was last that they stopped a while to look around and appreciate the beauty of a place. People hardly remember when they went out with the family last. Going out does not have to be on exotic foreign locations. There are places within our country which are overlooked and taken for granted. Allocating small amount of money and taking out a few days, make this a week, for the family will do a world of good to ourselves and our family too. Now the question may arise! Where do we go with small amount of money? How can a week be long enough to visit a place? This, my friend, is very possible. Like mentioned earlier, we do not have to choose international destinations which are famous and expensive. As unbelievable as it may sound, but travelling within the country can be as much fun as travelling the outside world. There are hundreds of thousands of people whose lists have Nepal as one of their favourite destinations. They spend thousands of dollars to visit Nepal. Why do we think of foreign trips?
Every once in a while we can take a few days off and head to Ghandruk to get up close and personal with Machhapuchchhre and Annapurna. It is just a six hours hike from Pokhara. We can even go to Dhampus to look at the same mountains from a different angle. We can get to Dhampus with a five-six hours’ walk from Pokhara. If we have a little longer, we can get down to Ghorepani from Ghandruk, view the sunrise from Poonhill and reach as far as Jomsom and even Muktinath. For those who are a bit more adventurous we can take on the challenge of trekking. If we are willing to accept the challenges, Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Sagarmatha Base Camp Trek and even Langtang Valley Trek can be our options. Needless to say, the experiences we get from those trekking will be almost too-good-to-be-true. Moreover, Antu Danda (hillock) of Ilam district offers one of the best views of sun rise on the face of the Earth. Tourists, both international and domestic, flock there to get a glance of the sun rise. Those who have been there at least once have seen everybody get overwhelmed with emotions at the sunrise and sun set. Such is the beauty of nature. Ghunsa, a remote village in Taplejung, borders Tibet in th north. We can call Ghunsa a sleeping princess because only few people have known about her. To say Ghunsa a garden of dreams would be an understatement because Ghunsa is more beautiful than paradise. Ghunsa is the base for the expedition of Kanchenjunga Mountain, the third tallest peak in the world and second in Nepal.
These are only few names to mention. Nepal has more than a hundred places which are yet to be explored. We need to abolish the thought of taking tourists for the people who come from foreign soil and those who do not belong here. Also, we should give up our notion of considering foreign locations as our favourite destinations. Let’s explore Nepal. Let’s become domestic tourists. We need to start backpacking and walking the trails of our own country. Lets get to know each other first and then decide if we should follow alien cultures or our cultures are far better than theirs.
